Most asked questions about Mulch
Organic mulches tend to decompose over time and become incorporated into the soil. To maintain an effective depth (around 100mm on top of the soil is recommended), it may be necessary to top the mulch up a couple of times over the summer. Regular watering and warm temperatures from late spring to autumn will result in mulch breaking down faster than over the cooler months. Check the depth every 6-8 weeks from early summer and add more mulch when appropriate.
No, the dyes we use in the black and red Debco Designer Mulch are long-lasting horticultural dyes that are non-toxic and non-staining. They fade over time as the mulch decomposes, but the colours are not released when the mulch is wet.
