HOW TO USE

In pots or barrels

  1. UseFruit & Citrus Potting & Planting Mixstraight from the bag - no further additives required
  2. Water the plants that are to be repotted and allow them to drain
  3. Select a clean pot with large drainage holes and partly fill it with new potting mix
  4. Carefully knock the plantfrom its existing pot and loosen the root ball. Trim off any dead or damaged roots
  5. Place the plant in the centre of the pot and fill with potting mix
  6. Gently tap the new pot down to help the new potting mix settle in and around the roots. Do not pack the potting mix down
  7. Thoroughly water the plantand allow it to drain freely. If necessary, top the potting mix up again to the suggested level of 2-3cm below the rim
  8. Place the pot in a sheltered spot for 5 days to allow the plant to settle and acclimatise before moving it to a permanent home

In-ground planting

  1. Dig a dish-shaped hole roughly 1½ times the size of the plant's root ball and twice as wide
  2. Turn the plant out of the existing potand gently loosen the root ball or, if it is a bare-root deciduous tree, remove it from the wrapping and shake out any sawdust or sandy soil
  3. Make a small mound of the potting mix in the base of the hole and then position the tree in the centre - make sure the roots are spread evenly over it
  4. Backfill with the potting mix and ensure that the plant is no deeper than it was previously(check the soil mark on the trunk)

WHEN TO USE

  • Evergreen fruit trees and citrus are best repotted or planted out inSpring or Autumnwhen there is little danger of frosts occurring
  • Deciduous / bare-root trees should be planted inWinter, while they are devoid of leaves and dormant

ONGOING PLANT CARE

  • Scotts Osmocote® Citrus & Fruit Potting Mixcontains a balanced fertiliser up to 6months - additional fertiliser may be required in time, depending on plant needs
