HOW TO USE
In pots
- UseRose, Gardenia, Azaleas and Camellia Mix straight from the bag - no further additives required
- Water the plants that are to be repotted and allow them to drain
- Select a clean pot with large drainage holes and partly fill it with new potting mix
- Carefully knock the plant from its existing pot and loosen the root ball. Trim off any dead or damaged roots
- Place the plant in the centre of the pot and fill with potting mix
- Gently tap the new pot down to help the new potting mix settle in and around the roots. Do not pack the potting mix down
- Thoroughly water the plant and allow it to drain freely. If necessary, top the potting mix up again to the suggested level of 2-3cm below the rim
- Place the pot in a sheltered spot for 5 days to allow the plant to settle and acclimatise before moving it to a permanent home
In-ground planting
- Dig a dish-shaped hole roughly 1½ times the size of the plant's root ball and twice as wide
- Turn the plant out of the existing pot and gently loosen the root ball, or, if the plantis wrapped in hessian, remove it from the wrapping and then loosen the root ball - trim off any dead or damaged roots
- Make a small mound of the potting mix in the base of the hole and then position the plant in the centre - make sure the roots are spread evenly over it.
- Once positioned, backfill the planting hole with the potting mix and ensure that the plant is no deeper than it was previously (check the soil mark on the stalk/trunk)
WHEN TO USE
- Evergreen trees, shrubs and conifers are best repotted or planted out in Spring or Autumn when there is little danger of frosts occurring
- Deciduous/ bare-root roses and trees should be planted in Winter, while they are devoid of leaves and dormant
ONGOING PLANT CARE
- Scotts Osmocote® Rose, Gardenia, Azalea & Camellia Mixcontains a balanced fertiliser up to 6 months - additional fertiliser may be required in time, depending on plant needs
- Avoid allowing plants to dry out - plants should be watered immediately after potting and frequently enough to keep the potting mix moist (not wet)
- Plants should be re-potted with new potting mix when they have outgrown the pot or after 12-18 months
