For eco-conscious consumers, recycling is a priority. However, compost bags are not easy to recycle and mostly end up in landfill.
At Evergreen Garden Care, we developed and trialled a Compost Bag Recycling Bin - initially at Dobbies Garden Centres - for consumers to easily dispose of their bags, which is then collected and recycled into garden furniture.
This innovative scheme addresses a key issue that gardeners face: what to do with the single use plastic from compost bags – at the same time as creating a positive initiative for garden centres. We have found since the launch that numerous other garden centres are interested and are keen to be part of the scheme.
During the trial, we found high engagement with consumers wanting to return their compost bags. We were delighted with the results and we now have a process that can be rolled out nationwide to any garden centre who wants to join the scheme.
