We passionately believe that everyone should have access to a green space to spend time in, connecting with nature. To work towards making this a reality, we are delighted to support a charity very close to our heart.
Greenfingers is a national charity dedicated to supporting life-limited children and their families who spend time in hospices around the UK. They are committed to creating well-designed outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with family, friends and siblings, whether through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation.
Evergreen Garden Care has worked with Greenfingers for several years, not only with an annual donation, but also promoting the charity on every Miracle-Gro compost bag to help raise awareness, joining in to create magical gardens for children’s hospices, and providing compost for much-needed plants.
We encourage our staff to get involved and fundraise. Over the years we have seen sponsored walks, a 5K run every day for a month, and even our Managing Director, Mark Portman, doing a wing walk!
Recently all our employees were encouraged to raise money for Greenfingers Annual Garden Releaf Day, where we were all encouraged to step out and raise money, here is what Mark said about the event:
Evergreen Garden Care really enjoyed garden re-leaf day from walking to cycling, horse riding to running and of course the quiz! We recognise the importance and more so this year to step away from our usual place of work and step into nature. As always it's a real pleasure to support Greenfingers through garden re-leaf day and for all the colleagues across Evergreen we recorded an incredible 1,410,580 steps, as well as meeting our fundraising goal.
Our fundraising and support has provided three new gardens at children’s hospices in the UK in the last year. Little Harbour in Cornwall now provides a vibrant place where children can enjoy time outside whatever the weather, with the introduction of a colourful shelter and sensory plants.
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough saw the rejuvenation of their existing Remembrance Garden. The charity’s worked to ensure the garden reflected the beauty of each child whose memory is held in the space. Thanks to the creativity of the designers, VaRa Garden Design, the garden now has additional seating areas for places of quiet reflection, complemented by year-round planting.
Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications at Greenfingers said:
We are so grateful to Evergreen Garden Care for their support through an inspiring charity partnership. From company donations, sponsoring and taking part in our events to donating much-loved Miracle-Gro compost to support our projects – their generosity really is making a tremendous difference to our work and in turn the lives of hundreds of children and families every single year.
