Miracle-Gro® Patch Magic® Dog Spot Repair is a 3-in-1 mix of grass seed, coir and gypsum that repairs bare patches on the lawn quickly and easily.

An enhanced grass seed mix of Ryegrass and Fescue, easy-to-use and an one step solution for lawns damaged by dogs and other animals. Containing gypsum - a calcium rich mineral which neutralises and repairs urine burns in lawns, rebalancing the soil nutrient levels. This helps the grass seeds to germinate and flourish.

The grass seed is surrounded by coir which absorbs 6x its weight in water and expands to surround the seed in a moist protective layer. Sprouts in just 4 days and grows twice as thick as ordinary grass seed.

How to use

Simply:

  1. Rake: remove dead grass, loosen soil and give a thorough soaking with water.
  2. Shake: apply evening, ensure soil is still visible so seeds have enough space to germinate. For thin areas apply half as much.
  3. Water: water thoroughly until dark brown. As the coir begins to turn a lighter brown, add more water.

Where there are dog urine burns on lawns. Grows in full sun, dense shade and high traffic areas.

  • 50% Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne)
  • 25% Chewings Fescue (Festuca rubra commut)

A1: Use Miracle-Gro Patch Magic Dog Spot Repair anytime between March and September.

Q2: How does Miracle-Gro Patch Magic Dog Spot Repair work?

A2: This product contains Gypsum, which is a calcium rich mineral to help rebalance the soil nutrient levels. It also uses specially selected salt tolerant grass seed varieties and coir, which expands when watered to surround the seed in a moist protective layer.

Q3: How long does it take Miracle-Gro Patch Magic Dog Spot Repair to germinate?

A3: In ideal conditions, i.e. when the soil is warm and moist, germination can take as little as 4 days before the root comes out of the seed followed a short while later by the green shoot. In colder weather germination will take longer maybe up to 28 days.

Q4: How often should I water the treated area?

A4: It is important to keep the seed mix moist at all times. If it dries out even for a short time as the seed is sending out the root it will die very quickly. As the coir starts to turn light brown water to return the colour to dark brown, don’t leave it to do later as you may forget.

Q5: Do I need to prepare the ground before using Miracle-Gro Patch Magic Dog Spot Repair?

A5: Preparation is key to establishing your new grass. Remove any dead material, weeds, etc. from the area you are going to re-sow and fork over the soil lightly to loosen. Remember to water the seed in well.

Q6: When can I cut my new grass?

A6: Cut your new grass with sharp blades when the grass is 5-8cm long to remove the top ⅓ of grass.
